12 Problems Of A Kpop/Kdrama Fan

This post I dedicate to rant out our problems as Kpop-Kdrama fans. I know fans, we have been suffering for too long now. *cries in han river* Ya'll feel this specially if you are from a place where kpop is not that popular. D:

Fangirl Problem #1
When you tell people you like kpop/kdramas, they are shook.
You've been bombarded with repetitive questions like:
- Do you understand Korean?
- Why Korean?
- XYZ country has better shows!!
- But its a different language?!!
- So you don't like North Korea?

Fangirl Problem #2
When you finally show them a music video of any group they judge you D:
Again the repetitive statements come crashing your world:
- They are all the same!
- How many of them are they?
- They look like that xyz(non-asian) group
- What are they saying?!
- Why do you like this?
- Do you understand any of this? *rolls eyes* *somebody educate them on subtitles*

Fangirl Problem #3
Most of your friends don't listen to Kpop.
Now to me this is one of the most frustrating ones. What do we do when a new music video comes out? When Big Hit drops a teaser? When Jungkook shows his abs? WHERE DO WE GO AND SCREAM TO? WHO DO WE GO TO RELEASE OUR FEELS? HOW DO WE FANGIRL IN ISOLATION? *cries in korean*
We need our support. We need people around us who can cry with us, laugh with us, feel exactly what we feel, understand us. It is so important to find a person around you who is as enthusiastic about your passions as you are. If you have someone around you who is into kpop too, consider yourself lucky.

Fangirl Problem #4
You are nowhere near Korea or penniless
Your number one goal is to go to Korea since you've discovered Kpop but that dream has been just a dream for quite some years now. Your family doesn't take your obsession seriously or you are too young to go alone and have no money. So Korea just becomes another place in your "To Visit List".
Also, you are too poor to go to their concerts or your bias group doesn't know your country exists cause it just happens to never be on a "WorLD ToUr" so you end up with shaky fancams in your rooms having a solo concert party.

Fangirl Problem #5
You have too many Oppas and groups you love
Fangirling becomes so difficult when you have so many groups you love and have to follow, it's almost impossible to give time to each equally. And whenever there is a fanwar going on, you just sit there thinking what group to protect cause they all are your babies and you just don't  get the point of fanwars at all.

Fangirl Problem #6
You are single asf
Now no you're not single because you are ugly or pathetic, you are single because that guy who keeps trying for you is not anything close to your oppa. Even your crush is not close to your oppa. Chocolate abs, aggressive wrist grabbing, good looks, kind heart, badass, cute, rich, good singer/dancer that ridiculously unreal all-in-one personality that Kdramas have been feeding us has raised the bar so high for us that now we don't like anything less. But here's a wake up call to ya'll HECK YOU WON'T FIND ANYTHING LIKE THE KDRAMA LEAD OR EVEN THE SECOND LEAD. SPECIALLY THE SECOND LEAD. SO STOPP!!

Fangirl Problem #7
You waste 90% of your time fangirling
We all are guilty of wasting our time on the internet rather than doing something productive. Your friends are all making plans to hangout and are having fun while you are awake at 2am in the morning watching a 1 minute video of Jungkook showing his abs. Be it kpop music videos or kdrama marathon, you just sit behind that screen with those drowsy eyes because at the end of the day that's just what makes you happy.

Fangirl Problem #8
You are always high on feels
You are always about to burst with emotions because you watched that absolutely cute video of Momo's aegyo or that adorable scene of the girl with the second lead. You are so emotional and happy all the time that it's almost difficult to keep calm.

Fangirl Problem #9
You try to cover the dances but fail miserably
Those kpop music videos really charge us all up and we just want to throw our shoes away and step up on the dance floor but here's the problem: YOU CANNOT DANCE AS BEAUTIFULLY AS THOSE KPOP IDOLS. Now to me dances of the female groups are easier. But damn those boys...how do they do that?! most importantly how do I do that??!!

Fangirl Problem #10
It's difficult to sing along to the songs
Because of the language barrier, it's hard to sing along to all the lyrics but just some Korean and English tid bits. But does that stop us from singing?? Nope, you try your best to sing the rest of the Korean lyrics with the same passion even if they are wrong.

Fangirl Problem #11
What is sleep??!!
So that day I stayed up till 8am in the morning just to watch BTS win that award and perform live at the BBMAs. Was it tiring to stay awake? Yes. Do i regret staying awake? NOPE. Boy was that a good performance *_* Once you get into kpop/kdrama world, you just learn to compromise on your sleep for other valuable things like watching one more episode of that kdrama before you sleep and end up all drowsy in class the next day.

Fangirl Problem #12
Kpop Idols make you question your sexuality
Sometimes you're so shook by how hot your unnie or hyung looks, it almost makes you think twice about where or who or what you are lmao.

Living as a Kpop/Kdrama fan is hard af, but at the end of the day you don't really regret joining the fandom and letting it consume your soul. You enjoy every phase, every problem, every feel, everything about this obsession. After all it's a big part of your life. It's what makes you want to live, it's what keeps you excited about your life, meeting new people who share the same passion as you, talking about the things you love with that enthusiasm in your eyes. This is what has got me here. To write about what I love the most. To express what I've been holding in all along. And I love every bit of it.

~~!!
